You are completely right. Group education and punishment is much more intense than when no one sees it. I know this from my own experience. The only thing missing is that the students educate and punish each other.

Die Prügelstrafe gehört zur Erziehung. An der Flurgarderobe hing für alle sichtbar eine Hundepeitsche und eine Riemenpeitsche. Wenn Mutti mich züchtigen wollte musste ich mich nackt ausziehen, eine Gummihose anziehen, die Peitsche holen und sie bitten mich auszupeitschen. Das lief auch so ab wenn wir Besuch hatten.
